Derani Yachts has officially set sail into Malaysia, marking a new chapter in its Southeast Asian journey with the opening of a brand-new branch at Pangkor Marina.
The opening ceremony, officiated by Dato Mohd Radzi Manan, Chairman of the Malaysian International Boat Show (MYBOS), brought together prominent guests including Dato Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Datuk Normah Hanum, and Datin Seri Dr Nomee.
During his speech, Dato Radzi praised the expansion as a positive step for the country’s marine industry, saying, “Wherever Mr. Håkan is present, I see business, that is always a good sign for our industry.”
Guests were treated to sea trials and viewings of two standout models; the Axopar 29 Cross Cabin and Greenline 40. Both yachts showcased the blend of style, performance, and comfort that defines Derani Yachts’ offerings, giving attendees a glimpse into the evolving world of luxury boating in Malaysia.
Reflecting on the company’s long connection to the region, Håkan Lange, Founder and Managing Director of Derani Yachts, shared, “We started selling boats here in the 1990s, so in many ways this feels like coming home. This industry is all about people, the partners we work with and the clients we serve.”
The celebration continued with a relaxed waterfront BBQ, where guests, clients, and locals gathered to enjoy food and conversation. It perfectly captured Derani Yachts’ philosophy, that boating isn’t just about business, but about building communities and friendships around a shared love for the sea.
Dato Radzi also emphasized collaboration within Malaysia’s marine industry, noting the need for more support services and stronger partnerships to develop vibrant yachting communities from Langkawi to Johor and beyond.
The new Pangkor Marina branch adds to Derani Yachts’ strong regional presence, joining its Phuket headquarters and partner offices in Singapore. The Malaysia office will offer yacht sales, brokerage, sea trials, and after-sales support, representing global brands such as Axopar, BRABUS Marine, Fleming Yachts, Greenline, Horizon Yacht, and Wider Yachts.
Looking ahead, Lange expressed optimism about further growth, hinting at plans to expand into Indonesia before the end of the year. “Everyone else in the region is cutting down,” he said. “But I think this is the right time to move in the opposite direction with strategic partnerships.”
With the natural beauty of Malaysia’s cruising grounds and an expanding community of boating enthusiasts, Derani Yachts’ move to Pangkor Marina feels like more than a business decision. It’s a confident step toward shaping the future of yachting in Southeast Asia.
