In fact, did you know that a shocking number of boating accidents are caused by operator inattention or inexperience?
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, in 2020, there were 767 fatalities and 3,191 injuries as a result of boating accidents.
Of those fatalities, 71% were caused by operator error, such as not paying attention to surroundings, speeding, or failing to follow proper safety protocols.
So, whether you're an experienced boater or just starting out, make sure to take the time to educate yourself on proper boating safety practices and always stay alert when out on the water.
