Set for release in autumn 2025, the Offshore 34 is the first model introduced under the Northern Light brand, a division focused specifically on offshore sailing. It reflects NLComp’s commitment to building high-performance boats using low-impact, circular materials.
A new chapter in sustainable sailing is about to unfold with the launch of Offshore 34, a high-performance offshore racing yacht designed to be fully recyclable. Created by Northern Light Composites (NLComp), an Italian startup known for pushing the limits of eco-conscious boatbuilding, this vessel combines cutting-edge design with groundbreaking materials.
Set for release in autumn 2025, the Offshore 34 is the first model introduced under the Northern Light brand, a division focused specifically on offshore sailing. It reflects NLComp’s commitment to building high-performance boats using low-impact, circular materials.
At the heart of the Offshore 34 is rComposite, NLComp’s patented recyclable composite. Unlike traditional boat materials that contribute to landfill waste at end-of-life, rComposite is designed to be fully recyclable, supporting the growing shift toward circular economy practices.

The hull is constructed using vacuum-infused thermoplastics, eliminating the need for gelcoat and enabling easier recycling. Additional sustainable features include:
Recarbon panels for non-structural interiors
Supercapacitor energy system (no lithium, no rare earths)
Structural composites for strength with less waste
The Offshore 34 is a collaboration between top Italian yacht designers Gianluca Guelfi and Fabio D’Angeli, with input from Mini Transat champion Luca Rossetti. Their shared vision was to craft a racing yacht that delivers on performance, durability, and sustainability.
Visualised using AI-powered renderings by RNDR studio, the yacht has a bold, sleek profile built for ocean performance. Its specifications include:
Length: 10.35 meters
Beam: 3.60 meters
Displacement: 3,600 kg
Draft: 2.2 meters
Sails: 42 sqm mainsail, 29 sqm jib, 130 sqm spinnaker
Engine: 20 HP
IRC Rating: 1.06–1.07

One of the standout innovations in Offshore 34 is its next-gen energy system. Built in collaboration with yacht power.it, it replaces conventional lithium batteries with rare-earth-free supercapacitors, offering better performance and lower environmental impact, even under extreme sailing conditions.
NLComp’s work has already earned global recognition. Their previous ecoracer boats have received awards like:
European Yacht of the Year (Boot Düsseldorf)
Boat Builder Awards (Metstrade Amsterdam)
Offshore 34 isn’t just another racing yacht, it’s a symbol of what’s possible when performance meets purpose. With sustainability at its core, this boat sets a new standard for eco-conscious racing and cruising.
Whether you're an ocean racer, designer, or marine innovator, the Offshore 34 is a
glimpse into the future of responsible yachting.
