Where Airboats came from?

Today, We are going to take you back to the 20th century.

One morning, Alexander Graham Bell was at his Nova Scotia Lab, sipping his coffee while he thought “let’s build a boat shaped like a duck”...

And then he started working on his idea and invented his first airboat dubbed “The Ugly Duckling” for testing various engines and prop configurations in water.

Fifteen years later, in 1920, the airboat was introduced to the Everglades by pilot and engineer of early American aircraft, Glenn Curtiss, to navigate the marshy areas of the Everglades.

From 1905 to 1920, From idea to implementation…

It took 15 years to build an airboat.

So Remember Great Ideas Take Time

Well, let's come back to the 21st century.

Initially, airboats were only used to navigate the marshy areas of the Everglades...so that people could fish and hunt. But now Airboats have become a large part of the tourism business.

And the amazing thing about an airboat is… It has 4 names….

Plane Boat… Swamp boat… Bayou Boat… And Fan boat…

You can call any of them.

An airboat is a flat-bottomed watercraft propelled by an aircraft-type propeller and powered by either an aircraft or an automotive engine depending on the features and brand.

Airboats are the best way to travel on water because the water is too shallow for a standard submerged propeller engine.

And commonly airboats are used for Fishing, Bowfishing, Hunting, and Ecotourism.
