LYC scored an impressive 95.24% in MIA’s thorough assessment, which looks at over 90 areas like marina infrastructure, customer service, environmental practices, and berth holder feedback. It’s not easy to earn this accreditation, and LYC clearly stands out.

Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) has made waves in Asia’s marine industry by becoming the first and only marina in Hong Kong to receive the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor Platinum Marina accreditation from the Marina Industries Association (MIA). This recognition puts LYC among just five marinas in Asia to achieve this elite status. And it’s well-deserved.

So, what makes this marina so special?

LYC scored an impressive 95.24% in MIA’s thorough assessment, which looks at over 90 areas like marina infrastructure, customer service, environmental practices, and berth holder feedback. It’s not easy to earn this accreditation, and LYC clearly stands out.

LYC isn’t just a beautiful marina, it’s also Hong Kong’s only Superyacht Ready Marina. That means it has the proper space, safety, and services to host some of the world’s largest yachts. Up to around 100 meters in length.

With 148 typhoon-sheltered berths, metered water and shore power, and 5-meter-wide pontoons designed for golf cart access, LYC has been built with comfort and convenience in mind.

What helped LYC reach Platinum status?

A few highlights from the MIA assessment include:

  • Clean, modern infrastructure

  • Special berthing for superyachts

  • 24/7 dockside support

  • On-water amenities that feel brand new

  • Clubhouse and marina office with top-notch facilities

  • Concierge services for members

  • Member events and a strong community vibe

This level of service didn’t happen overnight. Since reopening in 2020 after a major revamp, the marina has gone through continuous upgrades to meet the growing needs of luxury yacht owners.

According to Franklin Mak, Executive Vice President of Hospitality at HKR International, LYC is no longer just a place to dock yachts, it’s becoming a complete yachting ecosystem.

Mak shared that LYC is focusing on three main goals:

  1. Becoming the homeport of choice for international superyachts

  2. Driving innovation and lifestyle experiences in the marine world

  3. Helping Hong Kong become Asia’s top superyacht hub by hosting major regattas and events

Located in the scenic Discovery Bay on northeast Lantau Island, LYC is ideally placed to connect yachting communities across Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen.

Whether you’re a yacht owner, a marine business, or just a fan of life on the water, this is one story to watch.
