Instead of four classic seasons, boat owners often face hot and humid summers, heavy monsoons, and long dry spells. Boating in Asia Pacific is special. From island-hopping in Thailand, to sailing in the Philippines, to exploring Australia’s coastline, the experiences are unmatched. But the climate here is unique too. Instead of four classic seasons, boat owners often face hot and humid summers, heavy monsoons, and long dry spells. That means maintenance isn’t just about winter storage, it’s about protecting your boat from heat, salt, humidity, and storms. Here are some practical tips to keep your boat in top condition all year round. Dry Season: Maximize Use, Minimize Wear During the dry months, the weather is perfect for boating. But because you’ll be using the boat more often, little issues can build up quickly. Keep a close eye on fluids like oil, coolant, and fuel. Inspect belts and hoses before long trips. In tropical heat, batteries drain faster, so regular charging or replacement is key. Saltwater exposure is also heavier during this season. Make rinsing with fresh water a routine after every trip. Pay attention to metal fittings and electronics, as the salt air can corrode them faster than you’d expect. Wet or Monsoon Season: Focus on Protection When the heavy rains and storms roll in, your boat needs protection above all else. This is the season to double-check covers, seals, and bilge pumps. Make sure water cannot pool in or around the boat. Ventilation is equally important, high humidity encourages mold and mildew, which can quickly ruin upholstery and interiors. If your region is prone to typhoons or cyclones, take storm preparation seriously. Secure your boat in a sheltered marina or haul it out of the water if warnings are issued. Strong lines, proper anchors, and quality covers can make all the difference when the weather turns violent. Year-Round Essentials: The Non-Negotiables In Asia Pacific, where boating conditions can shift quickly, a few tasks should never wait for a “season.” These include: Regularly inspecting the hull for cracks, blisters, or barnacle growth. Flushing engines with fresh water after saltwater runs. Keeping safety equipment like life vests, radios, and flares in working order. Checking electrical systems, as humidity is tough on wiring. Off-Season or Storage: Plan Ahead If you store your boat during certain months, give it a proper shutdown. Drain water systems, disconnect batteries, and use a tight-fitting cover to protect from rain, dust, and pests. For boats stored outdoors, raised blocks and breathable covers can reduce damage from constant dampness. Unlike cooler climates where boats hibernate in winter, Asia Pacific boats are exposed to salt, sun, and storms almost year-round. Without routine maintenance, problems don’t just appear, they multiply. Staying on top of seasonal care keeps your boat safe, saves money, and ensures that when the skies clear, you’re ready to enjoy the water without worry. Owning a boat in the Asia Pacific is a privilege. The turquoise waters, coral reefs, and endless coastlines are worth every effort. But the region’s unique weather patterns demand smart maintenance habits. Think of it as protecting your ticket to freedom on the water. Tend to your boat in the dry months, shield it during the wet, and never skip the small checks. The reward? More smooth journeys, fewer costly surprises, and peace of mind every time you set sail. • How to Set the Right Asking Price and Attract Buyers Fast

Price it too high and buyers scroll past without a second look. Price it too low and you walk away leaving money on the table. That sweet spot in the middle? That’s where the magic happens. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share How to Set the Right Asking Price and Attract Buyers Fast Aziza | BASCO Team Sep 30, 2025 Price it too high and buyers scroll past without a second look. Price it too low and you walk away leaving money on the table. That sweet spot in the middle? That’s where the magic happens. Selling a boat is a little like selling a house. You know its value in your heart, but the real challenge is figuring out what it’s worth in the market. Price it too high and buyers scroll past without a second look. Price it too low and you walk away leaving money on the table. That sweet spot in the middle? That’s where the magic happens. Here’s how to find it and make sure buyers don’t just look, but actually line up to buy. Know the Market Before You List One of the biggest mistakes sellers make is guessing their boat’s value without checking the market. A quick online search is not enough. Look at listings for boats similar to yours in size, model, age, and condition. Notice what actually sells, not just what’s being advertised. Buyers today are savvy. If your price is way off from the competition, they’ll know. Factor in Condition, Not Just Age Two boats from the same year can carry very different values. A well-maintained vessel with updated gear, a clean hull, and a solid service record can fetch thousands more than a neglected one. Think of it like selling a car: buyers want proof that you’ve cared for it. Service logs, receipts, and clear photos can go a long way in justifying your asking price. Highlight the Extras Do you have upgrades that make your boat stand out? A new GPS system, fresh upholstery, solar panels, or upgraded safety equipment? These details can bump up your value, but only if you showcase them clearly. Many sellers forget to mention these perks, leaving buyers to assume the boat is just “standard.” Make sure your listing shows exactly what makes your boat different. Set a Competitive, Not Emotional, Price It’s easy to attach emotions to your boat. Maybe it carried you through your first big adventure or held memories of family weekends. While that makes it priceless to you, the buyer sees numbers. If you set a price based on emotion, the listing will sit untouched. Competitive pricing is what gets attention. Be realistic, even if it feels a little painful at first. Attract Buyers With Presentation The way you present your boat is almost as important as the price itself. High-quality photos in good lighting, a clean deck, and a clear, well-written description can make buyers stop scrolling. People shop with their eyes first. If your listing looks sharp and professional, it tells buyers your boat is worth the price you’re asking. Be Ready to Negotiate Even if you price your boat perfectly, most buyers will try to negotiate. That’s part of the process. Smart sellers build a little wiggle room into their asking price so they can meet buyers halfway without losing value. Going in with a number that leaves no room to move will only scare people off. The right asking price is not about guessing or hoping. It’s about strategy. Do your research, present your boat in the best light, and stay realistic. That’s how you attract serious buyers quickly. When you get it right, the process feels smooth. Instead of waiting months, you’ll find buyers reaching out, scheduling viewings, and making offers. And before you know it, you’ll be handing over the keys knowing you got a fair deal. And if you’d like a hand with that, we can help. At BASCO Boating , we make selling simple. On average, you’ll sell your boat 33% faster and at up to half the costs compared to the usual routes. Want to see how it works? Check out more below. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

  • Maryland Boating Fees Rise for the First Time in Four Decades

The extra revenue will flow into the Waterway Improvement Fund, which supports projects like dredging, boat ramp upgrades, and access improvements. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Maryland Boating Fees Rise for the First Time in Four Decades Aziza | BASCO Team Sep 30, 2025 The extra revenue will flow into the Waterway Improvement Fund, which supports projects like dredging, boat ramp upgrades, and access improvements. For the first time since 1983, Maryland is increasing its boating fees. Starting October 1, 2025, boat owners across the state will see higher costs for registrations, titles, and stickers. State officials say the change is long overdue and necessary to keep up with inflation. What’s Changing? The standard two-year boat registration fee jumps from $24 to $70 . A certificate of title will now cost $20 , compared to the old rate of just $2 . The state use sticker rises sharply from $10 to $70 . For the first time, owners of non-motorized vessels, such as kayaks and canoes, can voluntarily register their craft for $12 . Officials calculated the new registration fee based on inflation, which would have placed it around $73, but decided to round it down to $70. The extra revenue will flow into the Waterway Improvement Fund , which supports projects like dredging, boat ramp upgrades, and access improvements. The funding cap for grants will double to $500,000 , allowing more communities and organizations to benefit. State leaders argue this will reduce the program’s reliance on outside funding and ensure waterways remain safe and accessible. Not everyone is happy about the jump. Some boat owners worry the new fees are too steep, especially for retirees or families on fixed incomes. Others question whether the funds will directly benefit everyday boaters, fishermen, and recreational users. Supporters, however, say the increase was inevitable after 42 years without an adjustment. They believe the improvements will ultimately make boating safer and more enjoyable in Maryland. Maryland’s boating community is facing a new era of higher costs. While the fees may feel like a burden for some, state officials promise the money will go toward better access, safer waterways, and more opportunities for boaters. Whether the community sees those improvements in practice remains to be seen. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

  • Bali’s First International Marina Gets Its Official Name

The choice of name is not just a branding decision. It’s a message. Every yacht that enters Bali Gapura Marina will be more than a visitor. It’s a message. Every yacht that enters Bali Gapura Marina will be more than a visitor. It will be welcomed as part of Indonesia’s cultural journey. After months of anticipation, the mystery is finally over. Bali’s upcoming superyacht harbour will officially carry the name Bali Gapura Marina. The word Gapura , meaning “gateway,” couldn’t be more fitting. It reflects the marina’s role as a cultural and maritime entry point, the front door to Indonesia’s seas and timeless heritage. The choice of name is not just a branding decision. It’s a message. Every yacht that enters Bali Gapura Marina will be more than a visitor. It will be welcomed as part of Indonesia’s cultural journey. As Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana explained, the name embodies the country’s strategy to elevate marine tourism into a national priority. Building Indonesia’s First Full-Service International Marina Located in Benoa, Bali , the marina is set to transform Indonesia’s place in the global yachting industry. Spread over 33,000 square metres , it will be the nation’s first full-service international marina with: 180 berths in total Capacity for 50 superyachts up to 90 metres State-of-the-art facilities including clean water, electricity, and logistics support The project is being developed in partnership between PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) and Pelindo, the state-owned port operator. Together, they aim to deliver a world-class harbour that competes with top destinations in the Mediterranean and Asia-Pacific. The Road to Completion Construction is already underway, with Dock B completed and 11 pontoons installed, providing space for 48 berths. A soft opening in December 2025 will allow visiting yachts to access basic services, while the full launch is planned for the third quarter of 2026. Pelindo’s president director, Arif Suhartono, emphasized that Bali Gapura is just the beginning. With Indonesia’s vast 17,000 islands, the long-term vision is to build more world-class marinas across the archipelago, positioning the nation as a global maritime hub. Indonesia has long been recognized for its natural beauty, but its marine tourism has remained underdeveloped. Bali Gapura Marina is a statement that this is about to change. With its official name revealed, the project is no longer just a plan, it’s a gateway. A symbol of welcome. And a promise that Indonesia is ready to take its place on the global superyacht map. • 3 Best Electric Boats of 2025

Each one brings its own vision of what the next chapter of boating looks like. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share 3 Best Electric Boats of 2025 Aziza | BASCO Team Sep 30, 2025 And this year, three models stand out as leaders: the X Shore Eelex 8000, the Candela P-12, and the Sialia 45. Each one brings its own vision of what the next chapter of boating looks like. Electric boats are no longer just a concept. In 2025, they’re faster, cleaner, and more practical than ever. And this year, three models stand out as leaders: the X Shore Eelex 8000 , the Candela P-12 , and the Sialia 45 . Each one brings its own vision of what the next chapter of boating looks like. 1. X Shore Eelex 8000 Think of the Eelex 8000 as the Tesla of day boats. Sleek, Scandinavian, and designed for everyday use. It cruises comfortably at around 20 knots, can hit about 30 knots top speed, and offers up to 100 nautical miles of range depending on conditions. Charging is easy, with both AC and fast DC support. Perfect for quiet family trips, coastal cruising, or a stylish day on the water. Best for : Owners who want balance, design, and a reliable day cruiser. 2. Candela P-12 This boat doesn’t just float. It flies. The Candela P-12 rises on hydrofoils, cutting drag and gliding above the waves. That means less energy use, almost no wake, and a smooth ride even at 25 knots. With a range of about 40 nautical miles at cruising speed, it’s made for short commutes or ferry routes. It’s a breakthrough for coastal cities and operators looking to replace noisy, fuel-burning ferries. Best for : High-speed commuters, water taxis, or anyone who loves cutting-edge tech. 3. Sialia 45 If performance is your priority, the Sialia 45 is hard to beat. With twin 300 kW electric motors, it can cruise at 25 knots and push into the 40s at full speed. Standard batteries give plenty of range for weekend getaways, and bigger packs or a hybrid extender are available for longer runs. It’s sleek, fast, and feels like a proper luxury cruiser that just happens to be electric. Best for : Owners who want sporty handling, longer trips, and a touch of luxury. 2025 is the year electric boats became real options, not just experiments. The Eelex 8000 is perfect for everyday use. The Candela P-12 changes the game for short, fast commutes. The Sialia 45 is for speed lovers and weekend adventurers. Whichever one you lean toward, the real win is the shift itself. Boating is becoming quieter, cleaner, and more exciting. The water feels different when you leave no fumes, no roar, just pure movement. So, if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to go electric, this might be it. The future is already here, and it’s riding on battery power. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

That spirit of teamwork soon opened the door to deeper conversations with Marcel and Dr. Barwani about how his background and passion could help move Oceanco forward The 111-meter yacht Leviathan didn’t just add another masterpiece to Oceanco’s portfolio, it sparked a partnership that would change the company’s future. That’s where Gabe Newell, best known as the founder of Valve and a driving force in the gaming world, first discovered Oceanco’s way of working. What began as the design and build of his own yacht turned into something bigger: an invitation to join the Oceanco story not just as a client, but as a shareholder. Gabe described the experience of building Leviathan as remarkably collaborative. “They make you feel like part of the team,” he said. That spirit of teamwork soon opened the door to deeper conversations with Marcel and Dr. Barwani about how his background and passion could help move Oceanco forward. Unlike many new investors, Gabe isn’t interested in changing Oceanco’s identity. He believes its culture and priorities are already strong. For him, growth isn’t about size but about quality and impact . “At this stage, my role is simply to support the things Oceanco already wanted to do,” he said. That support is already visible. The recent acquisition of system integrator Alewijnse shows Oceanco’s intent to expand strategically, bringing greater integration and collaboration into the group that already includes Lateral, Mercury, and Aluship. With decades of experience in pushing technology forward, Gabe sees opportunities to introduce innovation over time. But he’s not rushing. First comes strengthening what Oceanco already excels at. Later, he envisions identifying promising technologies, prototyping them, and moving them into production in ways that genuinely serve clients. What makes Gabe’s perspective unique is that he speaks as both a client and a shareholder. For him, Oceanco is first and foremost a customer-focused yacht builder. He is especially interested in creating long-term value for owners while also strengthening crew-centric design. This philosophy was central to Leviathan and will continue to guide future projects. “What gets me out of bed in the morning is doing work that communities value,” Gabe reflected. For him, stepping into the yachting world is exciting but also humbling. He sees Oceanco as more than a builder of extraordinary yachts. He sees it as a community he can contribute to, a force for good in an industry built on creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration.
