Living on a houseboat is a dream for many people. Imagine waking up every day to the sound of waves lapping against your home, and being able to watch the sunset from your own living room! It sounds like heaven. There’s a whole lot that comes with living on the waters. Houseboats offer residents a kind of lifestyle which is unlike any other. Here at BASCO Boat Advisory Services , we’ll be answering all of the questions you may have as regards buying a houseboat and living on a houseboat. A houseboat can mean different things to different people. Most commonly, the word is interchangeably used with liveaboard boats. Is there any difference between houseboats for sale and liveaboards for sale? Well, as far as both words are concerned, differences exist. A lot of yacht enthusiasts and boaters often like to live aboard their vessels. Boats like these, which have been designed to offer the convenience of a home along with the workings of a boat, are usually known as liveaboards. Every good thing will usually have a not-so-good aspect no matter what. Living on a houseboat comes with some challenges as much as it can be a very pleasurable experience. Although the experience will come across generally as awesome, comfortable, and fantastic, we’ll still not leave out the cons. From the scenic view of the water you wake up to every morning, to living a life where you can enjoy a resort-style living every other day, the following are some of the advantages that come with living on a houseboat. Pros of living on a houseboat How would you like to live every day like it’s a holiday? How would you like being rocked to sleep on a houseboat with calm waters flowing around you? How would you love to wake up on your very own inexpensive waterfront property basking in the beauty and goodness of nature? Let’s explore some of the beautiful goodness that comes with living on a houseboat or a liveaboard yacht. You’ll wake up every day to incredible views of the water around you. This inexpensive waterfront property of yours will be docked to the marina where your access to the bay lake or sea on which you reside will be unhindered. Fishing, tubing, boating, and all other activities people enjoy during holidays can easily become part of your normal afternoons and evenings. You’ll be right here in your own resort and henceforth, the word ‘bring’ would cease to exist in your dictionary. Houseboat living can also have great financial advantages. Depending on where you choose to reside, you may never have to pay any kind of property tax on this, your house on the water. Compare this with what you’ll have to pay on a waterfront property offering incredible waterfront views. Forget anything like yard maintenance when you finally start living on a houseboat. Forget about shovelling the snow. Also, you won’t even need to mow the lawn ever again. Forget about the boring lifestyle on land. When you’re living on a houseboat, there’s nothing like boredom. You can always change neighbours at will while life gets more and more exciting. You can decide to live in a simple homely houseboat or even go for something like the “Taj Mahal.” What is good and bad about living on a houseboat? Although life on a houseboat is somehow better and preferable for many people than on land, it’s not without a few challenges. Right here is where we’ll briefly discuss the goodness of life on a houseboat as well as the few challenges you may encounter with this kind of lifestyle. On the plus side, life is somehow more exciting and pleasurable on the waters, you’ll still also benefit from several financial advantages in most cases when living on a houseboat. There’s this freedom too since you’ll have fewer worries and responsibilities. On the minus, you still may have to join a marina club or association whose rules you’ll have to adhere. These rules are aimed at shaping decisions regarding how houseboats are maintained and other things like where they are docked. Although you won’t have to pay property taxes, there are still additional fees you may have to pay along with the cost of the houseboat itself. These may include rental fees for the slip you’ll be using on the marina. Remember too, that although there is less to worry about, the houseboat still needs regular and proper maintenance. Also, houseboats often have smaller living spaces and are less extravagant than land-based homes but there are many houseboats for sale in Asia that are very large and luxurious. Depending on how you see it, most of these are not really that much of a problem. Houseboats are generally a special way to experience life from another perspective. It’s a lifestyle that many people would give their all to maintain and with the various advantages that come with it, buying your very own houseboat may turn out to be a decision you’ll be happy to have made.
