Two of the most popular types of boats are cabin cruisers and bowriders. If you are in the market for a new boat, it can be difficult to choose between the two. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at cabin cruisers and bowriders to help you determine which type of boat is best for you. Cabin Cruisers Cabin cruisers are larger boats that typically have a cabin area that includes sleeping quarters, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. They are ideal for those who want to spend multiple days on the water or even live on their boat. Cabin cruisers are often used for cruising and overnight trips. One of the advantages of cabin cruisers is that they provide a comfortable and spacious living space. They are also typically more stable and offer better protection from the elements. Cabin cruisers are ideal for those who want to entertain guests or take extended trips on the water. However, there are some downsides to cabin cruisers. They are often more expensive than bowriders and require more maintenance. They also require a larger crew to operate, making them more challenging to handle for a single person. Bowriders Bowriders are smaller boats that are designed for day trips and water sports activities. They typically have an open bow area and seating for multiple passengers. Bowriders are popular with families and those who enjoy water sports such as skiing or wakeboarding. One of the main advantages of bowriders is their versatility. They are ideal for a wide range of activities, including fishing, swimming, and water sports. They are also less expensive than cabin cruisers and require less maintenance. Bowriders are typically easier to operate and can be handled by a single person. However, there are some downsides to bowriders. They do not offer much protection from the elements, and their open design can make them less comfortable in rough waters. They also have limited storage space and do not offer the same level of amenities as cabin cruisers. Which is Best for You? Choosing between a cabin cruiser and a bowrider ultimately comes down to your personal preferences and needs. If you plan on taking extended trips on the water or living on your boat, a cabin cruiser is the better choice. If you plan on using your boat for day trips and water sports activities, a bowrider is the way to go. It is also important to consider your budget and the level of maintenance you are willing to undertake. Cabin cruisers are more expensive and require more maintenance, while bowriders are less expensive and require less maintenance. Ultimately, the best way to determine which type of boat is best for you is to test drive both types and see which one you prefer. Take your time and consider all of your options before making a decision. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →
- A Robot Helped Decorate This 165-Foot Superyacht
One of the most interesting things about Asani is how personalized it is. From the layout of the rooms to the art on the walls, everything feels tailor-made. It’s the first yacht in this series with a new interior layout. The owner even added a custom outdoor rain shower on the private balcony — only one other yacht in the series has that. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share A Robot Helped Decorate This 165-Foot Superyacht Aziza | BASCO Team Apr 24, 2025 One of the most interesting things about Asani is how personalized it is. From the layout of the rooms to the art on the walls, everything feels tailor-made. It’s the first yacht in this series with a new interior layout. The owner even added a custom outdoor rain shower on the private balcony — only one other yacht in the series has that. If you think superyachts are just about luxury, Asani takes it one step further, into the world of art, technology, and pure elegance. This 165-foot beauty is part of Benetti’s popular B.Now 50 series, and it’s not just another fancy boat. It’s a floating masterpiece. Inside, the yacht feels incredibly spacious. That’s because the design team moved the bulky air conditioning system to the outside. It might sound simple, but this change made a big difference. Now, the main salon is wide open and welcoming, with beautiful natural oak and dark wood details. With help from LASS Studio and Bergman Design House, the yacht was transformed into a peaceful, Zen-inspired space that feels deeply connected to the sea. According to Marie Soliman, co-founder of Bergman Design House, the goal was to create an onboard experience that goes beyond typical luxury and they nailed it. One feature that truly sets Asani apart is the artwork. There’s a painting created by artist Sougwen Chung in collaboration with a robot. Yes, a robot! It’s the first yacht to feature robotic artwork, and it’s displayed right in the owner’s suite. Alongside it, there’s ceramic wall art and other custom pieces throughout the yacht, including glass tables and game tables that double as statement pieces. The interior also mixes masculine and elegant touches; think dark walnut, cream leather on stairs, and leather-wrapped handrails. Even the wheelhouse is wrapped in matching leather that mirrors the look of the yacht’s smaller chase boat. Guest cabins are just as luxurious. There are five in total, including two VIP suites with soft suede ceilings. The two twin rooms can be converted into doubles, making the space flexible for different types of guests. Outside, the fun continues on the Oasis Deck — one of Benetti’s signature features. It includes a glass-edge infinity pool, large sunbeds, and a beach club that opens up for easy access to the sea. With 1,250 square feet of outdoor space, it’s perfect for lounging, swimming, or just enjoying the view. Then there’s the sun deck, over 1,000 square feet of pure relaxation. It has an American-style bar, comfy sofas, and coffee tables that can turn into dining tables. There’s even a round Jacuzzi tucked away at the front, shielded from the wind by soft awnings. In short, Asani is not just a yacht. It’s a dream home on water, designed with heart, creativity, and the kind of attention to detail that makes it unforgettable. Acknowledgement: We would like to express our gratitude to Robb Report for their insightful coverage on the Asani, a remarkable 165-foot superyacht that blends luxury, art, and technology. - How much time will you have to use your boat?
Time, health, and money are golden assets, but it's rare to have an abundance of all three at the same time. - Basco Boating News - Written by BASCO Team < Back Share How much time will you have to use your boat? BASCO Team Feb 23, 2023 Time, health, and money are golden assets, but it's rare to have an abundance of all three at the same time. Time, health, and money are golden assets, but it's rare to have an abundance of all three at the same time. Often, when you feel like you have a lot of one (say time), you're lacking in another department (like money). What if you have a boat, but your time is limited and you can't go out on the water as much as you'd like? Owning a boat is one of life's great pleasures. But unless you have a lot of free time to spare. Buying a boat is not just a matter of money—you'll also need to consider the amount of time you can reasonably spend on your boat. So when you're ready to buy a boat, ask yourself this question. The third question is “How much time do you have to use your boat?” (the third of the 4 key questions you need to answer before you buy a boat). By deciding how much time you will have to use your boat, you can determine which type of boat is best for you. If you only have weekends and holidays available for boating, then purchasing a live-aboard vessel may not be feasible unless you relocate close to where you'll keep your boat. Also, If you live near the water and can use the boat with relative frequency, a larger boat might be a good choice. If you'll only be able to use it occasionally and for short trips, a smaller boat might be a good option. If you’re working or living in Asia, think about how much time you will have to use your boat. Here are 6 statements, if you can answer yes or no (or maybe) to these 6 statements. It will help you narrow down how much time you have for using your boat: 1. I have plenty of time or annual leave to go boating whenever I want (Yes/No) 2. I need to travel to my home country during most of my annual leave (Yes/No) 3. Most of my boating time will be on long weekends with public holidays (Yes/No) 4. My family or partner loves boating and usually, we’ll go boating together (Yes/No) 5. During the weekdays I have a lot of available time (Yes/No) 6. Other (State your statement) Now it’s time to put the ‘yes’s’ in order of priority. 1 is the highest priority or most likely time factor in being able to use your boat. So, let's say you're considering a cruise to Thailand. When traveling by boat, it will take four days to get there and another four to get back — And sailing even longer. So, the question to ask yourself is, do you really have so much time to spare? The reason this is important is that the distance and types of waters that you wish to travel significantly determine the time it will take for the trips of your dreams. When you look at your work schedule and your available time-off, it might be faster, cheaper, and more realistic to fly to Thailand and either take your boat out or charter a boat. So, take some time to think about how much time you will have, and how this might change in the next 2-3 years. -- You don't need to be rich or spend hundreds of dollars to unlock boat ownership secrets and enjoy a boating life. You can unlock boat ownership secrets that will transform your life (and in as little as 3 days!)– and it won't break the bank. - The Pros and Cons of Living on a Dive Boat Liveaboard
If you're a fan of diving, snorkeling, or just spending time on the water, you may have heard about the concept of a liveaboard. - Basco Boating News - Written by BASCO Team < Back Share The Pros and Cons of Living on a Dive Boat Liveaboard BASCO Team Apr 30, 2023 If you're a fan of diving, snorkeling, or just spending time on the water, you may have heard about the concept of a liveaboard. If you're a fan of diving, snorkeling, or just spending time on the water, you may have heard about the concept of a liveaboard. It's a type of boat or yacht that's basically a floating hotel room! But not just any hotel room - it's specifically designed for people to live on board for extended periods, usually for the purpose of diving, snorkeling, or other water-based activities. For diving enthusiasts and ocean lovers, living on a dive boat liveaboard can be a dream come true. You can wake up every morning to the sound of the waves and dive into crystal clear waters, exploring the stunning beauty of the underwater world. But, as with any lifestyle, there are both pros and cons to living on a dive boat liveaboard. In this blog, we'll explore the advantages and disadvantages of this unique lifestyle, and help you decide whether it's right for you. Pros of Living on a Dive Boat Liveaboard Unbeatable Access to Diving and Water Activities: One of the most significant advantages of living on a liveaboard is that you have immediate and easy access to diving and other water-based activities. You can easily dive or snorkel multiple times a day, without having to worry about transportation or accommodation. Convenience: A liveaboard allows divers to stay close to the dive sites, avoiding long boat rides or multiple trips from land-based accommodations. This can save time and provide a more efficient and convenient diving experience. Sense of community: Living on a dive boat liveaboard means that you're living in a tight-knit community of like-minded people who share your passion for the ocean and diving. You'll make lifelong friends and create unforgettable memories. Affordable living: Living on a dive boat liveaboard can be surprisingly affordable. While the initial investment in a boat can be high, the ongoing costs of living on a boat can be much lower than living on land. You won't have to pay rent, utilities, or property taxes, and you can anchor in free or low-cost locations. Access to remote and world-renowned dive locations: A liveaboard provides the opportunity to access remote and less frequently visited dive locations that are not easily accessible from land-based accommodations. Cons of Living on a Dive Boat Liveaboard Living on a dive boat liveaboard can be an incredible adventure, but it's important to consider the potential drawbacks before committing to this lifestyle. Here are some cons to keep in mind: Limited living space: One of the biggest cons of living on a dive boat liveaboard is that you'll have limited living space. You'll need to be creative with your storage solutions and be prepared to live in a smaller space than you're used to. This can be challenging if you're used to having a lot of personal space or if you have a lot of belongings. Maintenance and repairs: Boats require ongoing maintenance and repairs, and living on a dive boat liveaboard means that you'll be responsible for maintaining your own boat. This can be time-consuming and expensive. You'll need to be prepared to handle repairs yourself or hire someone to do them for you, which can be difficult if you're in a remote location. Weather-dependent: Living on a dive boat liveaboard means that you're at the mercy of the weather. You'll need to be prepared for rough seas, storms, and other weather-related challenges. This can make it difficult to plan activities or travel, and it can also be challenging if you're prone to seasickness. Limited access to amenities: You'll also have limited access to amenities like grocery stores, restaurants, and medical facilities. You'll need to plan your provisions carefully and be prepared to travel to shore when necessary. This can be challenging if you have specific dietary needs or medical conditions that require regular attention. Despite these potential drawbacks, many people find that the pros of living on a dive boat liveaboard outweigh the cons. If you're an adventurous person who loves being on the water and exploring new places, living on a dive boat liveaboard can be an incredible way to experience the world. But before you take the plunge into this lifestyle, it's important to be prepared for the challenges that come with it. Living on a boat requires adaptability, resourcefulness, and a willingness to let go of some of the comforts of land-based living. It's important to have a solid plan in place before embarking on this adventure. That being said, if you're up for the challenge, living on a liveaboard can be an unforgettable experience. And if you're in the market for one, you may want to check out the recent listing of the 2010 Darvin 92' Dive Boat Liveaboard. This luxurious and spacious vessel is designed for avid divers and adventurers seeking an unforgettable underwater experience. The boat is equipped with all the necessary amenities for daily living. Her current owner owns a PADI 5 Star Dive Center which conducts daily dives around Lombok and arranges diving safaris in world-renowned locations. This means that you'll have access to some of the best diving spots in the town, with experienced instructors who know the area well. Click Here for More details Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

The expo is aimed at first-time boat buyers and boaters who are new to Asia, and takes place from October 10-11. Participants, who can register for free at the event’s website , can also register for over 30 webinars on topics such as “how to charter a boat or a superyacht”, “how to build or buy a new boat without breaking the bank,” and “what resources you need to make the boating lifestyle a dream.” The concurrent online Asia Online Boat Show runs from October 10-31, and will remain live until December 21, 2020, for further sales and inquiries. Basco expects around 10,000 ‘attendees’ during the three-week show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG0nFM7TeGY “We are thrilled to be supporting and connecting the boating industry’s SMEs with the Online Boat Show marketplace and the Boat Buyer Expo,” says Basco Boating co-founder Dione Schick. “By bringing a regional approach to boat shows we believe this will provide economies of scale, reduce costs, and significantly ramp up exposure for these businesses. We’re delighted to be leading the charge on this for the benefit of the industry,” Schick adds that it is challenging for many owners to sell a boat in Asia and that she hopes the event can provide an alternative to the traditional boat brokerage model. The pandemic has curtailed almost all physical Asian boat shows this year, with brokers and buyers turning to online events to fill the gap. The annual Singapore Yacht Show, initially rescheduled from its original dates in March, was cancelled last week . The inaugural Hong Kong Yacht Show , slated for November 19-22, is now the only physical boat show set to take place in Asia this year.
