- Is there any easy way to avoid boat buying risks?
Let’s look at some risks that you might face in your boat buying journey and how to overcome them - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza Ahmed < Back Share Is there any easy way to avoid boat buying risks? Aziza Ahmed Sep 11, 2022 Let’s look at some risks that you might face in your boat buying journey and how to overcome them Apart from not buying on in the first place, yes that is the only way to avoid boat buying risk! But let's consider that buying a boat is a huge decision. If you're thinking about buying one, the first question that hits your mind is "How will I avoid boat buying risks?" While there are many factors to consider when it comes to buying a boat, having the right skills and knowledge can help you avoid many of those risks. Let’s look at some risks that you might face in your boat buying journey and how to overcome them. - Buying a wrong boat Buyer's remorse is a common phenomenon that can occur when you buy a boat. You might feel regret or sorrow if you bought the wrong boat, or if your purchase didn't live up to your expectations. To avoid this risk in your boat purchase: Know what kind of vessel you want before deciding where and how much money will be spent on it (i.e., budget). If there are several options from which to choose, research them thoroughly so that there are no surprises when it comes time for signing papers and handing over cash at closing on your new vessel - A lack of experience in dealing with marine insurance policies You need to understand what type of insurance is needed for your particular type of vessel, how it works and how much it costs so that you will be able to make an informed decision about whether or not getting this kind of coverage is right for you and/or your family members who might want such protection too! - Not getting the survey A survey will tell you if the boat is in good condition, whether there are any major problems and if it has been modified. It’s also the only way to know what kind of engine your new boat has, which can make a big difference when buying it because the engines are expensive! - Underestimating the importance of boat operation experience The next thing you should consider is the importance of engine knowledge. While you might think that just knowing how to drive a boat will be enough, this is not always true. You need to know how to operate your boat in order to avoid any trouble on the water. The same goes for operational experience—you want someone who has been around boats their whole lives and knows exactly what it takes to make sure everything works properly and efficiently so that nothing goes wrong during transport or use (and there's no reason why it should). - No test drive or sea trial The most important thing to do is take your boat out and see how it handles in open water. If you're unsure about the boat's seaworthiness, ask a marina if they can help you test it. They may be able to provide access to some of their docks or moorings, which will allow you to put the boat in motion without risking any damage or injury from hitting rocks or other boats. I hope you’ve found this information helpful and will take the time to do your homework before buying a boat. I want to make sure you have all the information necessary to make a well-informed decision on buying a boat. And if you don’t want to do this homework. Maybe then you need to read THIS . In this blog, you’ll find an amazing framework that helps you to avoid boat buying risk in THE easiest way. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →
- Do You Really Need a Marine Surveyor? Here’s Why the Answer Is Yes
A marine surveyor examines the boat thoroughly. They check the hull for any structural problems, inspect the deck for signs of wear, and review the engine’s condition. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Do You Really Need a Marine Surveyor? Here’s Why the Answer Is Yes Aziza | BASCO Team Jan 31, 2025 A marine surveyor examines the boat thoroughly. They check the hull for any structural problems, inspect the deck for signs of wear, and review the engine’s condition. When buying a boat, it’s easy to focus on its appearance, features, and price. But beneath the surface, there could be issues that aren’t visible to the untrained eye. This is where a marine surveyor comes in. Their role is to assess the condition of a boat and help you make an informed decision. What Does a Marine Surveyor Do? A marine surveyor examines the boat thoroughly. They check the hull for any structural problems, inspect the deck for signs of wear, and review the engine’s condition. They also look at the electrical systems, safety equipment, and other important components to ensure everything is in working order. Why Is It Important? A surveyor’s report helps you understand the true condition of the boat. This information is valuable because it allows you to: Identify issues that might require repairs. Negotiate the price based on the boat’s actual condition. Ensure the boat is safe to use. When Should You Hire a Marine Surveyor? You might be wondering when it’s the right time to get a marine surveyor involved. Here are a few situations where their expertise can be really helpful: Before buying a used boat: It’s always smart to know exactly what you’re getting into before making a big purchase. When renewing your boat insurance: Some insurance companies require a survey to ensure the boat is in good condition. After an accident: A surveyor can assess the damage and help you understand the extent of repairs needed. For regular maintenance checks: Even if nothing seems wrong, routine surveys can help catch issues early and keep your boat in great shape. While hiring a marine surveyor involves an extra cost, it can save you money in the long run by helping you avoid unexpected repairs. More importantly, it ensures that the boat you’re buying is safe and reliable. If you’re planning to purchase a boat, having a marine surveyor involved is a practical and smart choice. BASCO Team Jul 20, 2023 Ever wonder how other boat owners are able to achieve an "OMG That's Amazing!" quick boat sale? And if you're curious about how they do it without spending a fortune on expensive ads, here's the secret… Ever wonder how other boat owners are able to achieve an "OMG That's Amazing!" quick boat sale? OMGosh That's Amazing is what we call Stage 1 of the 3-stage boat sale process - where boat owners are able to sell their boats quickly and with minimal effort within the first 3-4 months of their boat coming onto the market. And if you're curious about how they do it without spending a fortune on expensive ads, here's the secret… . . . . . . . To be honest, there really isn't one. There's no magic formula for finding a buyer for your boat… Or Tripling your boat enquiries and selling your boat 33% faster while cutting your commission in half. Clear? However, there is one key to success: having someone who has already achieved these things provides you with a "blueprint" and helps you navigate the challenges that come with selling your boat. These challenges become more apparent in Stage 2 of your boat sale - the depressing, traditional, "Sit and Wait" stage. But, by learning from someone who has already been through the process (many hundreds of times), you can save time, money, and energy while maximizing your chances of achieving an "OMG that's amazing!" quick boat sale. Now instead of searching for some elusive and unidentified “secret” (that doesn’t exist), you simply need to ask yourself… “If I look at my progress 30-days from now, where do I want to be in terms of finding a buyer for my boat?” And... “What steps can I take today to ensure that I am on the right track to achieving that goal?" Then ask… "Who has already achieved hundreds of successful boat selling projects and how can I learn from their experience to achieve the same level of success?" Simple! We know you're now aware of what you need to do! But before we move on, let us ask you a few questions. Are you like most boat owners, captains, or agents searching for a way to quickly find a buyer for your boat in just 30 days without relying on expensive boat brokers? Do you find yourself confused about the best way to market and sell your boat, or unsure about its true value, making it difficult to sell quickly and at a good price? If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then we can help. Click this link to find out more Media Gallery ← Previous Next →
