Search and rescue operations are ongoing as the yachting community holds its breath. The Turkish yachting industry is in shock as the search continues for Halit Yukay, founder and CEO of Mazu Yachts, who has gone missing at sea. His 12.2-meter yacht, Graywolf , was found wrecked and partially submerged off Marmara Island, but no sign of Yukay has been discovered on board. Yukay departed alone from Yalova Setur Marina on August 4, heading toward Greece. He was last seen on security footage leaving the dock around 15:10. When his family could not reach him later that evening, they contacted the Turkish Coast Guard. On August 5 at around 14:30, the crew of a passing commercial ship reported sighting a damaged vessel near the Kapıdağ Peninsula. Authorities confirmed it was Graywolf , but Yukay was not aboard. Since then, Turkish authorities have launched a full-scale search and rescue operation. The mission includes a helicopter, seven surface vessels, and a dedicated diving team. So far, no additional evidence has surfaced. The cause of the yacht’s severe damage remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway by the Marmara Public Prosecutor’s Office. The boating community, both in Turkey and internationally, is anxiously awaiting updates. Mazu Yachts is known for its handcrafted, high-performance vessels. Since its founding in 2011, the company has carved out a strong reputation for sleek, custom-designed yachts ranging from 11 to 40 meters. Halit Yukay was more than just a shipbuilder. He was an innovator, a sailor at heart, and a driving force behind Turkey’s rise in the luxury yacht sector. Starting his journey as a teenage boatbuilder, he went on to lead one of the country’s most admired marine brands. His absence is being felt deeply across the industry. Mazu’s design philosophy blends strength with elegance. Under Yukay’s leadership, the company pushed boundaries and attracted a loyal international clientele. His disappearance has sent ripples through the yachting world, as clients, colleagues, and friends rally in hope and support. As of now, the search continues. The boating community remains united, praying for a breakthrough Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

  • Yanmar Goes from Yacht Engines to Dutch Football Ownership

The Japanese engine maker, Yanmar, has just signed an agreement to acquire Almere City FC, a professional football club in the Netherlands. The deal includes not just the team, but also the entire stadium, pending approval from Dutch football authorities. Do you have a Yanmar engine in your yacht? Now they own a football club too! If your yacht runs on a Yanmar engine, here’s something interesting. Yanmar is now stepping off the dock and onto the pitch. The Japanese engine maker, Yanmar, has just signed an agreement to acquire Almere City FC, a professional football club in the Netherlands. The deal includes not just the team, but also the entire stadium, pending approval from Dutch football authorities. This isn’t a sudden move. Yanmar has been part of the Almere community since 1989 and has been sponsoring the club’s stadium for over ten years. The company says this new step will help deepen their connection to the city, the region, and its people. Yanmar is no stranger to football either, they’ve owned Cerezo Osaka in Japan since the 1950s. So, while their marine engines keep yachts moving, their football investments are now helping clubs grow on another kind of turf. For yacht owners, this might just be an interesting side note, but it does reflect a broader picture. Yanmar isn’t only about precision mechanics; they’re also investing in long-term relationships, whether it’s with customers at sea or communities on land. According to Yanmar Europe CEO Samir Laoukili, it’s about more than business: “It’s our passion for the game and the community that drives us.” With the Kroonenberg Groep staying on as the club’s main sponsor, it looks like Almere City FC is set to benefit from both local support and international experience. So next time you hear that smooth “hum” from your Yanmar engine, remember, it now powers more than your boat. It’s also part of the game. Media Gallery ← Previous Next →

Firstly, Indonesia has made it easier for yachts to enter and get clearance. Secondly, the area now has better infrastructure, which makes resupplying and handling formalities smoother. The Anambas Islands in Indonesia are starting to make a name for themselves among yacht owners and charterers. Tucked away in the South China Sea, this group of over 200 islands is known for its clear waters, coral reefs, peaceful anchorages, and rich marine life. What’s helping this remote destination grow in popularity is a mix of factors. Firstly, Indonesia has made it easier for yachts to enter and get clearance. Secondly, the area now has better infrastructure, which makes resupplying and handling formalities smoother. One of the main stops for yachts is Tarempa, the capital on Siantan Island. This is where all official entry procedures take place. Nearby Pulau Matak has an airport, making it a convenient point to welcome guests onboard. Other islands like Pulau Bawah, Ritan, Durai, and Airabu are also worth visiting. Each offers calm anchorages and stunning views of jungle-covered land and turquoise lagoons. The Anambas are still relatively unknown compared to other Indonesian destinations, which is great for those seeking peace, adventure, and untouched nature. Reefs and coral gardens are everywhere, providing excellent spots for diving and snorkeling. But captains should be careful, many of the lagoons are narrow and can be tricky to enter, so it’s best to have updated navigation tools or local guidance. Fishing villages and local communities offer fresh seafood and a warm welcome. The area is mostly inhabited by descendants of the Orang Bugis, a seafaring people known for their strong connection to the ocean. The best time to explore the Anambas Islands is from April to September, during the southwest monsoon season. The sea is generally calmer and conditions are dry, making for smooth sailing. Even though the Anambas may seem far away, they’re actually quite accessible, especially from Singapore, which is just around 150 miles away. With more yachts exploring this route, the Anambas Islands are becoming a top pick for nature lovers, adventurers, and those looking for something different on the water.
