- Sanlorenzo Expands in Southeast Asia with New Presence in Thailand
The move focuses on exclusive sales and representation of Sanlorenzo and Bluegame yachts within Thailand. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Sanlorenzo Expands in Southeast Asia with New Presence in Thailand Aziza | BASCO Team Jul 30, 2025 The move focuses on exclusive sales and representation of Sanlorenzo and Bluegame yachts within Thailand. Sanlorenzo Asia Pacific has expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia with the launch of Sanlorenzo Thailand. A new division formed through a strategic partnership with Thai entrepreneur Vrit Yongsakul. The move focuses on exclusive sales and representation of Sanlorenzo and Bluegame yachts within Thailand. This step follows a decade of steady growth for Sanlorenzo in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the years, the brand has worked closely with Simpson Marine, a well-established yacht dealership based in Hong Kong. In March 2024, Sanlorenzo acquired Simpson Marine, further strengthening its position across markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and Vietnam. With the formation of Sanlorenzo Thailand, the company aims to provide more direct support and service for Thai clients. The new headquarters will be based in Phuket, a key location for yachting in the region. Vrit Yongsakul , who now heads Sanlorenzo Thailand, brings more than 20 years of experience in yacht sales and marine operations. He has played a role in developing Thailand’s boating infrastructure and growing the local yachting community. According to Daniele Lucà , CEO of Sanlorenzo APAC and Simpson Marine, Vrit’s knowledge of the Thai market and background in the industry made him a strong choice for this role. Sanlorenzo’s APAC division follows the company’s global "Made-to-Measure" approach, providing custom yacht design and delivery tailored to each owner’s preferences. Over 100 Sanlorenzo yachts have already been delivered across Asia-Pacific, and the brand continues to invest in regional service hubs. The Thailand hub will support Southeast Asia, while another hub in Hong Kong serves North Asia. Thailand already hosts a number of Sanlorenzo yachts and superyachts, and this new collaboration is expected to offer better access to local service and expertise. - Azimut Yachts Unveils HQ in Avigliana with €50M Redesign
The goal is to create a work environment that supports both the company’s operational needs and its evolving approach to teamwork and communication. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Azimut Yachts Unveils HQ in Avigliana with €50M Redesign Aziza | BASCO Team Jul 30, 2025 The goal is to create a work environment that supports both the company’s operational needs and its evolving approach to teamwork and communication. Azimut Yachts has completed a major renovation of its headquarters in Avigliana, Italy, marking a new phase in the company’s ongoing growth. While the brand continues to focus on designing and building luxury yachts, the updated facility reflects an effort to improve how its teams work, collaborate, and innovate. The project is part of a €50 million investment into the production site and includes a new multifunctional pavilion, energy-efficient upgrades, and redesigned office spaces. The goal is to create a work environment that supports both the company’s operational needs and its evolving approach to teamwork and communication. So, what’s new at Azimut’s Avigliana HQ? New multifunctional pavilion designed to reflect the brand’s modern identity Redesigned office layouts with glass walls, open spaces, and shared areas A cutting-edge Virtual Reality room to let clients and teams explore yacht models interactively Major energy efficiency upgrades across the site A design that respects the original 1990s architecture by Gabetti & Isola, while pushing forward with a clean, minimalist look An overall shift from rigid hierarchy to a more collaborative and transparent work culture The redesign was led by two respected architecture firms, AMDL CIRCLE , guided by Michele De Lucchi, and Settanta7 . Their vision? Create a space that mirrors how the brand thinks: innovative, refined, and future-focused. The centerpiece of the redesign is the new pavilion, a sleek metal structure resting on the existing brickwork. It’s symbolic. The brand isn’t erasing its history. It’s building on it. And with over 1,500 employees preparing to return in September 2025, this HQ isn’t just a workplace. It’s a statement. Whether it’s using VR to enhance customer experience or tearing down walls to foster creativity, this move tells a bigger story. A brand evolves when its environment evolves too. - Gulf Craft Adds Crypto as a Payment Option
The UAE-based yacht builder has partnered with Bahrain-licensed fintech company ARP Pay to roll out a regulated stable coin payment solution. - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Gulf Craft Adds Crypto as a Payment Option Aziza | BASCO Team Jul 30, 2025 The UAE-based yacht builder has partnered with Bahrain-licensed fintech company ARP Pay to roll out a regulated stable coin payment solution. Gulf Craft is stepping into the future of finance by offering a new way for clients to pay using cryptocurrency. The UAE-based yacht builder has partnered with Bahrain-licensed fintech company ARP Pay to roll out a regulated stable coin payment solution. That means buyers can now use digital currencies like USDT and USDC to purchase yachts, request services, or even pay for refits. But don’t worry, this isn’t just about riding the crypto wave. There’s a practical edge too. Payments made in stablecoins are converted into AED or USD, helping reduce costs and making things easier for Gulf Craft’s growing international customer base. “Our goal has always been to adapt and lead,” says Mohammed Hussein Alshaali, Gulf Craft’s chairman. “The UAE was built on innovation, especially in maritime trade. So accepting regulated digital payments is a natural next step.” This isn’t just an idea on paper. The company has already tested the system in a real-world transaction, with a portion of a yacht’s price paid through cryptocurrency. The trial helped them gauge how crypto fits into the buying process and fine-tune the experience for future clients. Group CEO Erwin Bamps explains the motivation behind the move: “Adding a crypto option future-proofs our customer experience. We want to be where the world is heading, not where it used to be.” Whether someone’s buying a Majesty yacht, a Nomad, or even an Oryx or SilverCAT model, they now have a fast, transparent, and compliant payment method at their fingertips. This initiative also reflects the UAE’s broader push to become a hub for digital assets and fintech. Gulf Craft’s move aligns with national strategies supporting regulated digital finance, including VARA and the growth of crypto-friendly free zones. In short? Yacht shopping just got a tech upgrade. - Cape Town’s Marine Industry Takes Charge of 2025 Boat Show
“This is a boat show by the industry, for the industry,” organisers shared. “It will operate on a cost-only, breakeven basis, but still meet international standards.” - Basco Boating News - Written by Aziza | BASCO Team < Back Share Cape Town’s Marine Industry Takes Charge of 2025 Boat Show Aziza | BASCO Team Jul 24, 2025 “This is a boat show by the industry, for the industry,” organisers shared. “It will operate on a cost-only, breakeven basis, but still meet international standards.” Cape Town’s marine sector is taking charge in 2025, bringing back its iconic boat show with a fresh, industry-driven approach. For the first time, the Cape Town Boat Show will be led and managed by local marine organisations, “SABBEX”(South African Boat Builders Export Council) and “BlueCape” in partnership with the V&A Waterfront. Unlike previous years, where the event was managed by external organisers, this year’s show will be guided directly by key industry bodies. “This is a boat show by the industry, for the industry,” organisers shared. “It will operate on a cost-only, breakeven basis, but still meet international standards.” Following global examples where boat shows are often owned and directed by industry associations, SABBEX and BlueCape will set the strategic direction, while a dedicated operations team will handle logistics, execution, and on-the-ground experience. The idea is to combine deep industry knowledge with event expertise to create a sustainable, long-term solution for South Africa’s leading boat show. This year’s show will run from October 24–26, and hopes are high for a strong comeback after a dip in attendance over the past few years. In 2023, just over 4,000 visitors and 61 exhibitors attended, down from nearly 8,500 attendees and 93 exhibitors in 2018. But with a new leadership model and fresh energy, there’s optimism that 2025 will set a new standard. Adding to the buzz is the African Boating Conference, taking place at the V&A Waterfront from October 21–22, just ahead of the boat show. The conference aims to highlight Africa’s growing marine industry, including bold plans to position Cape Town as a superyacht service and repair hub. SABBEX and BlueCape are also working closely with industry partners to attract quality exhibitors and increase footfall, while reinforcing the boat show’s long-term value to the sector. “With collective support, this boat show will become the flagship event for South Africa’s marine sector — uniting, strengthening, and setting the course for a thriving future,” said the organisers. The Cape Town Boat Show has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1995 at the Royal Cape Yacht Club. It later moved to Green Point Stadium and the Cape Town International Convention Centre, drawing large crowds. Now, it’s returning with a renewed focus, guided by those who know the industry best.
